Our House Gallery, is having a summer opening on July 7th, launching No More Weekdays, an an East London based furniture company and also feature new works by Robina Doxi and Alice O'Hanlon. No More Weekdays will be presented as a shop within a shop at Our House Gallery.

No More Weekdays features the work of furniture designer/maker Ola Leander, furniture, includes his mid-century modern inspired coffee tables, desks and storage units.

Our House is based in London’s Columbia Road and the features a collection of contemporary art, handmade jewellery and furniture by a carefully selected group of artists, makers and designers.

The gallery is a showcase for work by Swedish artist, creator and jewellery maker Robina Doxi whose collection of striking large portraits and abstract canvases all have fascinating stories to tell.

The gallery also features work by a number of artists including Alice O’Hanlon, Kate McMorrine, Nigel Bengstrom and others, Our House is in the middle of this busy street, home to a growing number of galleries, cool shops and restaurants. The gallery is open every Sunday, when the famous flower market is held and on the first Thursday of every month but can be opened by appointment during the week.

The Columbia Road shops and galleries were originally designed as workmen’s cottages and during the week Ola uses the gallery space as a workshop as it was intended, preferring to work with reclaimed wood, and other environmentally low impact alternatives. He is currently working on a project using old wooden ladders.

Our House gallery is owned by artist Robina Doxi and Furniture Maker Ola Leander. Robina works in mixed media, light, monoprint and collage and also makes jewellery from antique clock keys and chains.

Marc Zegans, poet, spoken word artist and Narragansett Beer’s poet laureate is hosting and performing at the BCA’s first Spoken Word Speak Easy as part of the the Boston Center for the Arts CYC Specific Installation. The event will take place on 19th February at 10pm in the Salon of the famed Cyclorama, which will be dressed like a 1920s Speak Easy by production designer, Jenny DeBell. Performing alongside Zegans will be Poet Holly Anderson, Poet Rachel Boyadjis, Singer-Songwriter Peg Simone and story-teller Brendyn Schneider. As part of the event Peg and Holly will perform the Boston premier of Peg’s epic 20 minute version of When the Levee Breaks.

The line-up at the second Speak Easy includes singer-songwriter, Gabriel Miller-Phillips, Poet Jessica Bozek, Poet Mary Walker Graham, Writer Sandra Miller and others.

Marc Zegans, has recorded two spoken word albums, Night Work (Philistine Records) and Marker and Parker (Tiny Mind Records) and is the author of the book Pillow Talk. European Cross Border Healthcare Directive - now NHS patients can be medical tourists

The long awaited EU Directive on Cross Border Healthcare is expected to be ratified by the EU Parliament on Wednesday. Despite opposition from some EU countries, the new Directive, which could be in force as early as 2013 will make it easier for patients to seek medical treatment in another member state.

NHS patients wishing to travel to other EU countries for medical treatment will be able to reclaim the cost of treatment from the NHS. Patients who exercise the right to cross border healthcare will have to pay their travel and accommodation costs, plus any top-up fees if charges in the foreign hospitals are higher than the NHS tariff. In some EU countries treatment may be cheaper than in the UK, therefore the Directive could potentially save the NHS money although these savings will not be directly passed on to the individual patient.

While part of the Directive states that national contact points must be established to consult and liaise between patient organisations, health care insurers and health care providers the patients themselves must initiate, research and arrange all aspects of any treatment undertaken abroad. Additionally once a patient leaves the UK the NHS will not have any responsibility for the patient until they return to the UK.

Keith Pollard, a leading international expert on medical travel and Managing Director of Treatment Abroad, welcomes the Directive and believes that; ““the ratification of the Directive will extend patient choice and give patients here and throughout the EU better access to healthcare.

“It is an important step for patients’ rights, and could significantly change the way patients consume healthcare in the UK and throughout Europe and as a result take the concept of patient choice to a new level. As more patients take advantage of cross border healthcare we may see an improvement in standards throughout the region as member states compete for patients and revenue from incoming patients. Competition from European hospitals could speed the changes within the NHS which now faces European competition”, says Pollard.

New definitive evidence exposes secret code that reveals Edward De Vere as author of Shakespeare’s Sonnets

The De Vere Code, is a new book written by Shakespearean actor Jonathan Bond which conclusively proves that the author of Shakespeare's Sonnets was the Elizabethan nobleman, Edward de Vere, 17th Earl of Oxford and not William Shakespeare and proves the identity of the so-called Fair Youth to whom the poems where addressed.

The evidence presented in this groundbreaking book means that everything that has been taught in schools around the world and every biography written about the Shakespeare for the last 300 years is completely wrong.
The Shakespeare authorship debate has been around for many years and many scholars and high profile actors including Mark Rylance, actor, director, playwright and first Artistic Director of Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, as well as Derek Jacobi, Fiona Shaw and Jeremy Irons believe that someone other than William Shaksper of Stratford may be the real author behind the plays and poems published under the name of Shakespeare. Edward de Vere has long been regarded as the strongest alternative candidate as the real author behind Shakespeare, but to date only circumstantial evidence has been provided to back up the claim.
Shakespearean actor, Jonathan Bond who studied Philosophy and Mathematical Logic at University College, London and Jesus College, Cambridge has discovered evidential proof from examination of the dedication to the first edition of the Sonnets in 1609 and fragmentary evidence that suggests it is an elaborate word puzzle. Numerous books and scholarly papers have previously suggested, without evidence that Edward De Vere was the real author of some of Shakespeare’s works but for the first time The De Vere Code presents conclusive proof that Edward De Vere, not Shakespeare was the author of the Sonnets.
While examining the available evidence for De Vere, Bond discovered that the dedication contains six straightforward cyphers, which unequivocally demonstrate that de Vere was the author of the sonnets and that Henry Wriothesley, 3rd Earl of Southampton was the subject of most of the poems (the so-called Fair Youth).
Jonathan Bond says that; “the book is important because it proves that the sonnets were not written by the man from Stratford, and that Edward de Vere IS Shakespeare (at least in the case of the Sonnets). It proves that the poems were largely written for the nobleman Henry Wriothesley, and that the relationship between the poet and the Fair Youth–whether sexual or not–was a real one not a literary fiction”.
“Additionally, it directly connects de Vere to stage writing (i.e. the plays of Shakespeare) via its references to Sir Philip Sidney and Ben Jonson in the concealed messages. It is therefore the first direct evidence that de Vere was also connected to the plays as well as the poems of Shakespeare”, comments Bond.
